The school was named for Thaddeus Stevens, a nineteenth-century politician, who is most notably known as a prominent figure during Abraham Lincoln’s presidency. The school was founded in 1905.
The main campus is a located just few blocks from downtown Lancaster at 750 East King Street. The school serves the greater Lancaster area which includes over 400,000 inhabitants and offers several cultural, athletic, and social activities for the community. The college is owned by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The school’s main campus is made up of 19 buildings on 32 acres of land. These building include 6 residence halls for students, a laboratory and classroom building, computer and leaning labs, a dining hall, and technical lab facilities. The most recent addition to the campus was the Learning Resources Center which was completed in 1995.Most of the students do not pay tuition and receive room and board without cost. But there are still fees that are required for admission. Most of these students receive scholarships base on their financial needs and economic background. Thaddeus Stevens College gets its accreditation from the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
